A Sedalia woman is charged with murder in the death of her 18-month-old child, whose body was found by a river near Marshall in July.
32-year-old Lydia Iliff was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder, tampering and endangering the welfare of a child. An autopsy showed her child died of dehydration and exposure. Iliff turned up alone at a rural Saline County home in July. Investigators say she was disoriented, dehydrated, and said she didn’t know where her child was. A late-night search with more than 70 volunteers found the child’s body by the Blackwater River near Marshall.
Iliff is in custody on $150,000 bond.
