Jefferson City’s hunt for a finance director is over. City officials decide to merge the job with other duties to create the new position of Assistant City Administrator. Jefferson City’s IT director, Bill Betts, will take over the new job. The city had hired Robin Milne for the finance spot, but she withdrew her name after it was found she had unpaid credit card bills.
Milne was set to replace the recently retired Steve Schlueter, who died unexpectedly last week. Mayor Eric Struemph says the move to promote Betts will save the city about $100,000 in salary.
