The battle lines are drawn at the State Capitol. Governor Jay Nixon calls for the expansion of Medicaid by more than 300,000 Missourians. In his State of the State address at the Capitol Monday night, Nixon said the expansion – covered by the federal government for three years – will spur economic growth and pay for the healthcare of working families of four making up to $32,000 a year.
Nixon’s opponents to Medicaid expansion, legislative Republicans, sat in silence as the governor delivered this portion of the speech. Nixon says most of the state’s largest business lobbying groups agree with him.
