If the utility company shuts off your heat this winter, you have one less lifeline in Mid-Missouri.
That’s because Central Missouri Community Action says it has no more federal money left for emergency utility assistance. Last year, the group got nearly $1.5 million to fund the program, but this year that money was cut by more than half. CMCA says it still has money available for non-emergency utility help, but that’s only a one-time deal.
The group says it will reopen the winter emergency program if additional funding comes in.
