There’s a big break in an unsolved murder case at the Lake.
Camden County prosecutors have charged 36-year-old Clara Jean Rector of Laurie with murder in the death of a Camdenton man in 2004. 48-year-old Tommy Hope was stabbed several times at his home 9 years ago this month.
Rector was a person of interest in the homicide from the beginning, and this week she was arrested on unrelated stalking charges. During questioning, authorities asked her again about Hope’s death, and she allegedly admitted stabbing him.
Rector’s 46-year-old husband Jason is also in custody, charged with tampering with physical evidence in the murder case. The husband and wife are being held in the Camden County Jail after their bond requests were denied.
