Lawmaker Reveals Another CCW Shocker

A Columbia State Senator reveals another shocking development in the controversy over information sharing at the Department of Revenue.

We already knew the department provided a list of over 150,000 Missourians with concealed-carry permits to the Highway Patrol, which then shared it with the federal government, potentially against state law.

On Tuesday, Kurt Schaefer announced the Social Security Administration asked for that list in a joint effort with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. It’s not clear whether the ATF actually accessed the information, and Social Security officials claim they weren’t even able to read the list before destroying it.

The director of the Revenue Department resigned Monday amid the information-sharing scandal, and Governor Nixon announced Tuesday that the department will no longer scan and collect concealed-carry documents.
