It started with a man running a stop sign in Boone County. It ends with a shooting suspect under arrest on 14 total charges.
Rashard Bigham, 21, led a deputy on a short chase that started near Santa Barbara Drive in East Columbia at about 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. He drove recklessly through the El Chaparral subdivision, eventually crashing into a car and knocking it over. Bigham tried to run away on foot, but was caught a few blocks away.
Officers found marijuana, and a stolen assault rifle, in Bigham’s vehicle. Authorities also believe he’s the guy behind a shooting on Sugar Tree Lane back on Election Day in November. A 17-year-old was shot, but survived, and a nearby house was hit several times with gunfire.
“He obviously has no respect for the law or other people’s safety. Driving that vehicle in the manner in which he did through El Chaparral, I mean a little kid could have been run over,” Boone Co. Sheriff’s Det. Tom O’Sullivan says. “He needs to be locked up.”
Even without the bond for first degree assault determined yet, the tally for the 13 other charges still adds up to $444,335. He’s in the Boone County Jail.
