A Columbia man has been convicted of murder in the shooting death of a 17-year-old who police say was not the intended target.
The Boone County jury found 20-year-old Anthony Graves guilty Wednesday, and recommended 30 years in prison, for the March 2012 murder of DeAudre Johnson. Graves will be sentenced next month.
The AP reports investigators believed Johnson was shot because he was with someone that had an ongoing dispute with Graves.
Graves testified Wednesday he fired shots during a dispute with another man but the bullet that killed Johnson did not come from his gun. He also said the shooting was in self-defense.
