A Columbia health center announces dozens of job cuts.
Boone Hospital Center told 20 employees Wednesday that their jobs would be eliminated, or their hours would be reduced. All but six of those workers still have a job somewhere in the center, although it might not be the same as before.
Along with getting rid of some vacant jobs, the cut amounts to 26 full-time positions. Michelle Zvanut with Boone Hospital says a main reason for the reorganization is declining patient volumes at the hospital.
She says all workers are being offered severance pay and job-search resources if they can’t stay on with Boone Hospital’s parent company, St. Louis-based BJC Healthcare. Zvanut says cuts are also happening at other facilities within the company.
