A Jefferson City man trying to bribe a mother in order to have sexual contact with her young child is in jail this morning.
The Boone County Cyber Crimes Task Force arrested 29-year-old Jeremy Bappert early Thursday morning on a variety of sexual offenses. Detective Andy Anderson says the department’s investigation started a few weeks ago when investigators learned Bappert had been offering money to have sexual contact with a child.
Cyber Crime Task Force officers set up an undercover operation, posing as a mother who would allow such a transaction.
Bappert was arrested early this morning when he showed up for a meeting with the decoy mother. He is being held in the Boone County Jail while he waits for a bond amount to be set.
