You’ll soon see the construction crews doing a major renovation at a Jefferson City day care that works with low income families. Governor Jay Nixon says the funds will come from the “Missouri Starts Smart” effort.
“Jefferson City Daycare has been authorized to receive $200,000 in Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credits, which will provide $400,000 in funding to help with renovations here at this facility,” says Nixon.
Jefferson City Day Care’s Donna Schiedt says the money will allow them to completely remodel their pre-school.
“We’re going to add a little more security as far as on our gates… we’re also going to add a sprinkler system,” says Schiedt.
In addition to the state funds, JC Day Care has earmarked another $100,000 for the project.
Governor Nixon made an appearance at the daycare Tuesday to talk about the Start Smart project.
