Jefferson City Police are searching for the people behind an overnight shooting and stabbing.
The shooting happened first, at about 2:00 Sunday morning. An officer found a 19-year-old Columbia man on Missouri Boulevard with a gunshot wound in the back. It turns out the shooting actually happened on Edmonds Street, as part of several shots fired.
At about 4:30 a.m., JCPD heard about a stabbing victim at a local hospital. The incident where the 20-year-old Jefferson City native was hurt apparently happened at East McCarty and Chestnut Street.
“The times and the locations are very different,” Capt. Doug Shoemaker says. “We don’t believe that there’s any necessary connection between the two incidents at all, based upon what we’ve learned at this point.”
Both victims do not seem to have life-threatening injuries. We don’t know if the two incidents are related, in large part because the stabbing victim is not cooperating with police.
