There’s no cause for alarm if you see a bunch of snow plows on major roads Tuesday. MoDOT is holding an annual winter drill.
“So we will be on the road with some plows attached on Tuesday. And the purpose of this drill is to prepare our personnel and equipment for upcoming winter operations,” says State Maintenance Engineer Beth Wright.
She says the drill helps new drivers get used to big trucks and snowplows, and gives crews a chance to check for faulty equipment before the snow actually hits. The drill will start no earlier than 9 am in urban areas, and should be over before rush hour.
