Residents of another small Mid-Missouri town, this one in Howard County, are saying no to a CAFO.
An area on the north side of the town of Armstrong is the proposed site of a large hog operation. Some local residents are trying to get the county commission to pass a health ordinance which could limit the number of hogs that could be housed at the CAFO.
Last month Cole County Judge Dan Green stopped the Clean Water Commission’s plans to vote on a proposed hog farm near Hatton in Callaway County. That proposed operation would have about 10, 000 hogs. Neighbors are opposed to the potential smell and runoff from waste lagoons.
