St Mary’s developer counting on Council support for a tax break

Your Jefferson City Councilmen now have to decide if they want to give a developer a tax break. The owners of Capital Mall .. the Farmer Holding Company .. are asking the city for a TIF tax abatement so they can renovate to old St. Mary’s Hospital …

The larger of two proposals from the Farmers would create commercial space and base Lincoln University’s Nursing School at the old hospital site. Councilman Rich Mihalevich is concerned the school won’t be able to come up with the $10 – million needed for their share of the development.

The Council will vote on the TIF August 21st.
