Ashland Alderman Faces Impeachment
(AP) – A central Missouri alderman is facing impeachment after allegations that he illegally interfered with city business.
The Ashland Board of Aldermen on Tuesday night approved seven articles of impeachment against Ward 2 Alderman Jeff Anderson. The allegations include that he asked city employees to help him conduct an unauthorized investigation to the police department and that he was disruptive at city meetings.
The vote came a week after Anderson was reinstated to the board by a Boone County circuit judge. The board voted to suspend Anderson on Sept. 16.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reports Anderson apologized to the board before the vote. However, his attorney said the allegations don’t rise to impeachable offenses.
