The Missouri Supreme Court has tapped an Ashland man as its new clerk. Bill Thompson succeeds longtime clerk Thomas Simon, who retired last year.

Thompson has already been working as the interim clerk since Simon retired. He’s responsible for several duties, including supervising administrative functions and directing the Missouri Judicial Conference.

Thompson has spent more than thirty years as a lawyer for the state’s Supreme Court. He’s been the chief legal counsel since 1997.
