More turmoil in Ashland city government. The mayor has resigned, and the board of aldermen is thinking about impeaching one of its own.
Mayor Gene Rhorer submitted his one-line resignation to city leaders Wednesday, effective immediately. Rhorer was the First Ward Alderman before being appointed to replace outgoing mayor Michael Jackson, who moved out of state in July.
The board of aldermen already suspended the 2nd Ward’s Jeff Anderson last month, and did not approve a motion at a special meeting Tuesday to re-instate him.
Ashland’s former city attorney will handle the impeachment process against Anderson. The board accuses him of trying to circumvent the group.
