Two firms unveil their plans for a proposed Jefferson City conference center.

After the Drury Hotels group of St. Louis pulled out of the bidding, The Farmer Holding Company of Jefferson City and the Erhardt Group of Hannibal showed off their proposals before the City Council. The Farmer plan would build the center and an attached hotel adjacent to Capital Mall. The Erhardt proposal would put the center and hotel on West McCarty across the street from Capital Plaza Hotel.

Both plans include a meeting space about one-third smaller than what was specified in the city’s request for proposal.

Jefferson City will kick in $9 million in lodging tax receipts for the project.
