Confusion Sends JC SWAT Team to Action

Posted by Warren Krech on October 4, 2013

A SWAT team scramble in Jefferson City turns out to be a mix-up with national news.

Police got a call about a possible active shooter at the Berlin-Wheeler building on West McCarty at about 3:00 Thursday afternoon. The caller said he got his info by text message. SWAT members set up a perimeter and cleared the building, but learned there was no threat.

Jefferson City Police say their caller confused information about the lockdown and shooting at the U.S. Capitol when he called 9-1-1. They say nothing bad happened, and the investigation is closed.
