Cow Killer in Cole County

Posted by Warren Krech on August 27, 2013

An upset Cole County cattle farmer is asking for the public’s help to find whoever shot one of her cows.
Tammy Goldhammer says someone pulled up to her Route ‘U’ farm Friday night and fired shots before speeding off. She says the SUV returned a short time later and someone inside started shooting again.

“A cow, just down the fence line from where my neighbor’s son was standing, just dropped dead, right in its tracks. The man fired again, and the cattle were in a group and they spooked, and another one jumped up like it had been hit,” says Goldhammer.

Goldhammer claims a neighbor’s child earlier saw the same vehicle parked in her driveway shortly before the incident. There are no other reports of injured livestock in that part of Cole county.
