Deadly Weekend on Missouri Roads

The Highway Patrol says ten people died over our wintry weather weekend in the state, and three of those deaths were in Mid-Missouri.

68-year-old Jerome Hinrichs of Wildwood died in an Osage County crash. Cody Ricker, 19, of Holts Summit was killed after crossing the median in a head-on collision on Highway 54 in Callaway County, and 42-year-old Karla Brown of Camdenton died after a similar crash in Camden County. Those wrecks all happened on Friday.

Captain Tim Hull with the Highway Patrol says use some common sense tips on the roads. We do have the threat of some re-freezing pavement Monday.

“Gotta slow down, increase their following distance, and make sure that they and everyone else in the vehicle [are] wearing a seat belt or an approved child restraint seat,” says Hull.

Columbia Regional Airport recorded 2.2 inches of snowfall, from the event that started Friday night and continued early Saturday morning. One part of Lake Saint Louis reported nearly 10 inches.
