Fire Closes Part of Downtown Columbia

Posted by Warren Krech on January 25, 2013

A fire in the attic of a Columbia law firm closes part of downtown for hours Thursday night. A prosecutor at the nearby courthouse noticed smoke coming from the Trapp Law Firm on East Walnut at about eight o’clock Thursday night and called 911. Crews cut a hole in the roof to help vent the attic space, and contained the fire to that area. No one was hurt. Investigators don’t know the cause yet, but do estimate it led to about $100,000 in damages.
