Gas Prices Falling in Mid-MO

Posted by Warren Krech on October 3, 2013

It’s been nearly a year since you’ve seen gas prices this low. A gallon of regular cost just $2.99 in Columbia on Wednesday.

Mike Right with AAA Missouri says we’re seeing better prices because the cost of wholesale gas is falling…

“[Wholesale gas is] selling on the New York Merc[antile Exchange] for about $2.63. You may recall earlier in the spring, that same gallon of gasoline was selling for over $3.00 a gallon,” Right says.

He adds refinery and supply problems that drove our prices up in spring are all cleared up now. Right says winter is generally the best season for lower gas prices.
