Haz-Mat Call in Jefferson City

Posted by Warren Krech on July 23, 2013

A package containing what investigators call a hazardous substance causes a scare at a Jefferson City mental health treatment center. The powder was found at Pathways Community Behavioral Health care on Stadium Monday morning. Firefighters called in Cole County’s Haz-Mat team who analyzed the substance and called the Highway Patrol who took the package to their crime lab.

The center wasn’t evacuated but workers and patients were kept away from the scene. No one was hurt.

Police are trying to figure who left the package at the treatment center. Investigators aren’t saying what the substance was.
