Sometimes lawmakers get a second chance. Missouri House members had to take their oath of office again Monday morning due to a mix-up at their inauguration.
The newly elected members mistakenly swore to support the “government” instead of the “constitution” the first time around. House leaders decided on Monday to repeat the oath during a morning session conducted before the Governor’s inaugural ceremony.
Even though lawmakers got the language wrong when they recited the oath the first time, they signed a written version with the correct wording.
