It was a late night for Jefferson City councilmen as they continue to hash out a shortfall in the budget. Councilmen have to come up with ways to cut spending because of the projected $1.6 million deficit for next year.
Monday night, city leaders discussed offering early retirement options for some city staff and looked at cutting funds to the city bus system, the animal shelter and even giving staff a week off without pay.
