JC Woman Pleads Guilty in Jail Escape Plan

A Jefferson City woman who tried to help someone escape from jail has pleaded guilty.

Amanda Lesh, 35, admitted she smuggled a hacksaw blade to a convicted murderer from Springfield, Steven Pyykola, and his cell mate Mitchell Atterberry, who was in on meth charges. Lesh apparently left the blade outside the jail near a window, and the men used a string to pull the blade in to their cell.

Authorities got a tip in November about the escape attempt, found the blade in the cell, and noticed they had cut most of the way through the window’s metal support beam.

Lesh could spend up to five years in prison for her role in the attempted escape.
