The Newtown, Connecticut school murders have put security in the spotlight once again. Jefferson City Schools spokesman David Luther says the preparations never stop. In fact, Luther says Thomas Jefferson Middle School took part in an intruder drill on Friday morning, before the school shooting took place on the east coast.

In a letter on the district website, Superintendent Dr. Brian Mitchell assures parents that intruder drills are conducted throughout the year. In addition, each teacher is trained in emergency procedures.
