Jefferson City Budget Approved
There are some wins and some losses, but Jefferson City has a budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
Councilmen approved a budget Tuesday night that is largely unchanged from recommendations laid out by Mayor Eric Struemph. Although Struemph had proposed cutting all funding for public access channel JCTV, the Council gave the station $55,000.
The 2014 budget also includes funds to hire a full-time finance director and to hire a replacement for retired Fire Chief Bob Rennick.
This year’s budget does not include raises for city staff. Councilman Carrie Carroll backed a plan that would have allowed those employees to use two floating holidays, but that move failed.
