Jefferson City Council Fires City Administrator

Posted by Warren Krech on September 17, 2013

Jefferson City leaders oust their City Administrator.

The City Council voted 8–2 to dismiss Nathan Nickolaus in a closed session Monday night. Councilmen Ken Hussey and Carrie Carroll did not vote for termination.

Nickolaus is Jefferson City’s former City Attorney and was brought on full-time after previous administrator Steve Rasmussen was let go. Nickolaus had been at odds with Mayor Eric Struemph and the council over several budget issues in recent months.

Struemph says the city will begin a nationwide search for Nickolaus’ replacement. In the meantime, City Attorney Drew Hilpert will serve as the City Administrator on an interim basis.
