Mayor Wants to Withdraw Resignation

Ashland’s ex-mayor wants to be mayor again.

Gene Rhorer submitted a one-line resignation to city leaders Wednesday, saying he was stepping down immediately. But Thursday, he sent another short statement saying he was withdrawing his resignation after concern from citizens.

Rhorer was Ashland’s First Ward alderman before being appointed as mayor this summer. Outgoing mayor Michael Jackson moved out-of-state in July. The city’s Board of Aldermen is in the middle of seeking the impeachment of Second Ward member Jeff Anderson, after suspending him last month.
