**UPDATE Monday 3:30 pm**

The AP reports 30-year-old Steven Henderson is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Macala Shelton. Court documents say Henderson admitted killing the girl with a large survival knife on Saturday, the same day she was reported missing. He also apparently told authorities where to find the weapon. Henderson’s listed address in Iberia is the same one where Macala lived. We don’t know yet if there was any relation between them.

Henderson is being held in the Miller County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

**ORIGINAL STORY**

The teenage girl who disappeared from her Miller County home over the weekend is found dead. The Miller County Sheriff’s Department confirms the body of Macala Shelton was found near a vacant farm in Iberia early Sunday morning. The department isn’t providing any other info on the investigation right now, but has scheduled a news conference for 3:00 Monday afternoon.

Authorities put out an endangered person advisory for Shelton over the weekend, after her grandmother reported her missing from an Iberia home on Saturday. She was last seen going to bed late Friday night.
