Missing Person Found in Jefferson City

Jefferson City Police say Mabel Haygood has been found safe on the west side of the city.

A citizen’s tip alerted police to her whereabouts at about 11:30 Friday morning. Officers say Haygood will be evaluated at a local hospital.

Jefferson City Police say they need your help to locate a missing person.

Mabel Bradford Haygood is a Lincoln University alumnus who was attending a school function Thursday night at the DoubleTree Hotel in Jefferson City.  Police say she was found wandering once and returned to the hotel, but left sometime overnight and hasn’t been seen since. Officers say she suffers from dementia and may be disoriented.

Haygood is a black woman in her late 80’s, with a petite build and fair complexion. She has salt and pepper hair, tied in a bun on the top of her head.  She also goes by the nickname of “Petey”.

We have a picture of Mabel Haygood posted with this story. Anyone who sees her or knows where she might be located is asked to call Jefferson City Police right away.
