Citizens aren’t the only ones who didn’t know about the scanning of personal documents at Missouri license bureaus. Lawmakers were also partially in the dark.
The AP obtained records that show our senators were told in 2011 about the new driver’s licenses, but were not briefed on the scanning of personal documents that are stored in a central database.
Republican lawmakers have accused the department of sharing personal info with the federal government or a private company. Revenue Department officials deny those accusations and claim the information is only being shared with the company that makes the licenses.
