Nixon Makes Stand on Guns in Schools
Governor Nixon says he opposes arming teachers. In a letter to public school superintendents, Nixon says he is against recently filed legislation that would take away school district’s ability to keep guns out of classrooms. Nixon says the legislation would put children at risk, and undermine a district’s abilities to keep schools safe in a manner officials see fit. Nixon writes that putting loaded weapons in the classroom is the wrong approach to school safety.
