The Boone Co. Sheriff’s Dept. continues to make progress on illegal drugs in Mid-Missouri.

Deputies learned about a suspicious vehicle on O’Neal Road north of Columbia a little after midnight Tuesday. Detective Tom O’Sullivan says they spotted the car soon after that, and noticed an occupant acting strangely.

“He threw items out of the vehicle. Obviously, this raised the suspicion of the deputies,” Det. O’Sullivan says.

Deputies would find meth, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, prescription pills, a stolen handgun, and a lot of cash.

Victor Mendoza was arrested on several charges. The 30-year-old Columbia man is now in jail, with more than $18,000 in bonds.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department just served a search warrant for drugs on O’Neal Road on Friday, but didn’t arrest anybody. Detective O’Sullivan says he can’t comment right now on whether the two incidents are related.
