A Cole County ballot will include an ambitious school bond issue. Jefferson City school board members okay the move to ask for a 55–cent tax hike to fund a new “super–size” Jefferson City High School.
The new school would be built on a large tract of land adjacent to the St. Mary’s Health Center complex on Highway 179. Opponents are calling on the district to build two new high schools, instead of one large campus. The bond issue funds would also cover security upgrades and buses.
