Sequester Could Cut Money to Missouri

Missouri could lose $95 million in federal funding for state programs, and a greater amount in defense spending, if government-wide spending cuts take effect as scheduled this week.

The AP reports the president is highlighting potential cuts to spur Congress to embrace an alternative plan. Figures indicate about a quarter of Missouri’s cuts would fall on education, and funding for military bases could be cut $70 million.
