State Budget In Final Negotiations

Posted by Warren Krech on May 6, 2013

This is a big week for Missouri lawmakers to come to an agreement.  The House and Senate have each passed their own state budget, but they’ve got to come to terms and finalize the budget plan by this Friday.

Missouri’s operating budget is roughly $25 billion and it takes effect July 1st.  Formal budget negotiation talks should start Tuesday. Some differences that need to be ironed out: education funding and cuts made over concerns about the new drivers’ license procedures.

There will not be debates on Governor Nixon’s plan to expand Medicaid coverage… that was already shot down by both the House and Senate.
