State Rep Arrested With Pot

Posted by Warren Krech on August 26, 2013

A local traffic stop for drugs nets an unlikely suspect…a state representative. The Highway Patrol pulled Jeremy LaFaver of Kansas City over in Boone County Sunday afternoon, for failing to appear in court on some traffic offenses. They found some marijuana in the vehicle.

The 33-year-old Democrat has apologized, and says he was not driving under the influence. LaFaver has pushed legislation in Jefferson City that would lower penalties for marijuana possession.

LaFaver has now resigned his role leading the House Democratic Victory Committee. State Republicans have called on him to step down as a representative, too.
