It wasn’t true love and marriage for one state worker… it was a sham that let him stay in the country.
Federal prosecutors claim 32-year-old Alex Druzenko of Jefferson City married a 60-year-old woman from El Paso, Texas, just to evade immigration laws. Druzenko is a Ukranian national who works at the Office of Administration in the capital city.
After coming here on a student visa in August 2004, Druzenko allegedly started looking for a domestic wife when he knew his graduation date was coming up. A friend of his helped set him up with his 60-year-old bride in 2007, but not before getting turned down for a sham marriage by a different woman.
