Stripping Burglar Caught in Jefferson City

Posted by Warren Krech on April 24, 2013

Any burglary is scary, but one Jefferson City Police just told us about was especially shocking.

Captain Doug Shoemaker says a man entered an apartment on Ventura Avenue Thursday night, and went to the bedroom of the female resident.

“[He] then began to undress in the apartment in front of the apartment owner. She confronted him, produced a knife, he left the residence and fled on foot.” says Shoemaker.

Officers got a good description of the man from the victim, and they caught up with 36-year-old Antwain Stewart at an apartment about a block away. Shoemaker says Stewart had been staying there occasionally, and has no apparent relationship to the victim.

Stewart is charged with first-degree burglary, and is being held in the Cole County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
