Cole County officers have arrested two of the three men allegedly behind a Jefferson City area burglary Monday night.
The victims say three armed men broke into the apartment on Collier Court at about 10:30 p.m., and forced them to get on the ground. One suspect hit a victim in the head with his gun. They left the apartment with cash and several pieces of electronics.
Cole County Sheriff’s Captain John Wheeler says the victims and some neighbors gave a good description of the suspects and their vehicle. A JCPD unit located that vehicle soon after the burglary, and a chase followed.
The suspects would crash into a nearby rock bluff, and try to run away. Authorities caught two of them, but a third is still on the loose. Capt. Wheeler credits cooperation between his deputies, JCPD, and MSHP for the two arrests.
“We were able to put a perimeter up pretty quickly,” Wheeler says. “The third one is outstanding, but I have every confidence that we’ll have him in custody soon.”
We don’t know any of the suspects’ names yet.
