A budget battle at Jefferson City’s City Hall.Mayor Carrie Tergin vetoed the budget last night, before the city council voted to override the veto .
The city council initially approved an approximately $60 million budget. In her veto message, Mayor Tergin cited the Council’s move to increase the Gross Receipts Utility Tax. Tergin wanted to keep the tax at its current level.
Tergin proposed a $60 million budget for the city. The final budget must be approved by the end of next month.
