A dangerous weekend on Mid-Missouri roads


A Holts Summit man died over the weekend in a car crash in Howard County. The Missouri Highway Patrol says 47 year old Brock Griffith lost control of his car on Highway 5 about six oh clock Saturday evening. The Car ran off the right side of the road and overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol says Griffith was not wearing a seat belt.

A Columbia man died in a single car crash early Sunday morning. Police say 35 year old Brian Rogers was killed when his car ran off Texas Avenue, hit a utility poll and then a concrete sign. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Police say it appears Rodgers may have been speeding.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports at least a dozen people lost their lives in traffic crashes around Misouri this Labor Day weekend. The number of deaths stood at 12 at six oh clock last night.
