‘Solid gold’ windfall for the Salvation Army

The running joke about gold coins being dropped off in Salvation Army kettles comes true. Someone donated an American Eagle gold coin in a red kettle outside the Jefferson City Sam’s Club this week. The Salvation Army’s Lt. Christopher White says it’s worth about $1300. They plan to sell it after the campaign ends next month.
