A bomb threat at a truck stop

A man is in custody after a bomb scare at Midway Travel Plaza. Investigators say he tried to start a fire at the center just west of Columbia off I-70 yesterday (mon) morning. When he was asked to leave, he called emergency dispatchers and said he had an explosive in his backpack. A deputy shot him with a beanbag round and arrested him. We don’t know the man’s name yet. The bomb squad did not find an explosive in the backpack.
