Call it the ‘Winter that won’t go away’

KMIZ — The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert Day for Friday with slick conditions expected to develop. Roads will become hazardous by the afternoon as another round of snow moves through Mid-Missouri.

This disturbance looks to move through the area rather quickly, but will be bringing moderate snowfall rates at times, allowing snow to accumulate on the roadways Friday. Of additional concern is the timing of the system, which will coincide with the evening commute.

Right now, accumulations look to range from 2-4″ over most, if not all, Mid-Missouri. Despite warmer weather preceding this event, ground temperatures will still be cold enough for snow to accumulate as temperatures will fall into the upper teens by Friday morning and highs will only reach into the 20s.  We’re tracking the potential for isolated areas to pick up over 4″ with this first round of winter weather. We will also be tracking another chance of snow heading into Saturday night and Sunday, but this system looks to only add a dusting in the viewing area.
