Inmate is shot inside Cole County Jail

Cole County Sheriff John Wheeler wants to know how a gun was smuggled into his jail. One inmate was shot and wounded in the Monday incident. He was treated at a Jefferson City hospital. The victim’s wounds weren’t life threatening. Wheeler says none of his deputies were hurt. He adds investigators don’t know if two inmates were involved or if the shooting was self inflicted.
